The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will today send a high-level
delegation to the Asa Dam road secretariat of the All Progressives
Congress (APC), venue of the formal defection of Mr. Dele Belgore
(SAN) from the opposition APC to the PDP.
Among the PDP chieftains billed to attend the ceremony are, Dr. LAK
Jimoh, Alhaji Salman Alada, Ayinla Folorounsho, Issa Molete and a
host of others.
A source who is close to the deal informed E-kwara late yesterday
that all arrangements have been concluded for the formal defection,
with delegates already arriving Ilorin from all parts of Kwara state as
early as yesterday.
The embattled senior lawyer is expected to arrive Ilorin, the Kwara
state capital by 11am today, from where he will head straight to the
former APC secretariat along Asa Dam, Ilorin. Already, the secretariat
building is wearing a new look as all the remnants of the APC have
been effectively removed. Also, there have been mounted since
yesterday, tents and plastic chairs for the historic event.
It will be recalled that E-kwara had as far back as February 9th, 2014
EXCLUSIVELY reported that Mr. Belgore was going to dump his
former party, the APC, for the PDP today. The report, which went viral
as soon as it was broken, was lashed upon by both online and print
media all over the country.
While confirming the report, a close ally of Mr. Belgore and lecturer of
History in the University of Ilorin, Dr. Saad Omoiya inform our
correspondent that Mr. Belgore was indeed set to bid the APC bye. In
his words, he stated that Belgore “will be addressing his teeming
supporters on his movement to the PDP immediately he arrive Ilorin
today”.
